“Trash Reality and Identity Issues” – A Miniature Installation on Identity and Consumption
In Trash Reality and Identity Issues, I construct a miniature space where digital projections from my photo series merge with materials sourced from the consumer and throwaway society. Packaging, plastic bags, and disposable elements are repurposed to create a new abstract cosmos—one that questions the transient nature of identity and the traces we leave behind.
Through light, image, and spatial transformation, this installation explores the intersection of reality and constructed narratives. The projected digital portraits interact with their material surroundings, blurring the line between personal and collective memory.
How do we define identity in a world shaped by excess and impermanence? Can discarded fragments tell new stories?
The Family Didn’t Accept the Content / Identity Formation and Familial Acceptance
This digital collage, titled “The Family Didn’t Accept the Content,” explores the search for one’s identity, particularly when one’s own family does not understand or accept who they truly are. The artwork plays with inherited conventional traditions and transforms a traditional women’s bonnet into a visual statement about perceptions and prejudices within the family. The title itself is integrated as a text element within the bonnet, reinforcing the theme of rejection and non-acceptance.
The central motif features the portrait of a woman, mirrored and presented in two versions – one in white and one in black. This contrast symbolizes different perceptions, expectations, and projections imposed by family members.
The artwork raises the question: Can we free ourselves from these expectations and prejudices? And if so, how much strength does it take to do so?
When your own family does not understand or accept you, it creates a challenging starting point for self-discovery. In such cases, the question arises: Can we detach from old structures and find new soul connections – a chosen family that truly understands and supports us?
In the end, the only real hope lies in trusting yourself. No matter how difficult the journey, self-trust is the foundation for overcoming life’s hardships. It is the inner strength that allows us to move forward, even when no one else believes in us. Only by believing in ourselves can we truly shape our own path.
